An Updated Design Procedure for Tesla Turbines

Tesla turbine rotor, a special case of the flow between two corotating disks, has been studied in past analytically and performance is discussed both qualitatively quantitatively. However, there no systematic design criteria/process given to rotor expander peer-reviewed literature. Such procedure, presented this article, allows researchers engineers optimise for fluid condition (Power, rotational speed). In we present 0-D methodology calculate parameters such as disk diameters, gap number disks speed expander, efficiency power estimation. This procedure based on correlations optimal ranges The model article promising approach preliminary then further fine-tuning could be done CFD simulations when coupled with stator. A study 3-kW air bladeless prototype which designed using compared 2D Computational Fluid Dynamics results.
